
Green & Fairtrade Organisations
In doing our own research we come across a whole host of informative websites on fair trade, green or eco-friencly issues. We select sites that we believe will be of use in pointing you to more resources that will help you make decisions on environmental matters. Not all of these organisations are baby related but as a consumer interested in natural living and ethical principles, you'll find some facts and figures on the environmental and human impact of our everyday lives, plus some handy hints on how we can all do more to reduce, re-use and recycle. These organisations should be your first port of call for information on environmental and Fairtrade issues.
The Fairtrade Foundation
The Fairtrade Foundation is the independent non-profit organisation that licenses use of the FAIRTRADE Mark on products in the UK in accordance with internationally agreed Fairtrade standards. You'll find a whole host of facts and figures on fair trade plus guides to product buying as well as a clear picture on the prinicples and mission behind Fairtrade labelling. The Soil Association
A hugely influencial national environmental charity promoting sustainable, organic farming and championing human health. Their website provides a consumer guide and answers to all your organic questions. There are sections on Food & Farming, Health & Beauty, Business Support and contact details for local groups. The Soil Association organic symbol is the UK's largest and most recognisable trademark for organic produce. WRAP (Wast & Resources Action Programme)
A fantastic resource that helps individuals, businesses and local authorities to reduce waste and recycle more, making better use of resources and helping to tackle climate change. Top tips for consumers and links to other informative sites on waste reduction, composting and recycling.
Pesticide Action Network UK
An independent not-for profit organisation dedicated to eliminating the dangers of toxic pesticides and promoting healthy food and sustainable agriculture. Wear Organic is a project from Pesticide Action Network UK aiming to reduce the problems from pesticides used in cotton, particularly by promoting organic and fair alternatives.
Low Impact Living Initiative
An informative non-profit organisation with clear guides and top tips on how to reduce our impact on the environment. Factsheets on everything from the big picture to natural body care, organic gardening and green electricity.
Environmental Justice Foundation
EJF is a registered charity established in 2000 to empower people who suffer most from environmental abuses to find peaceful ways of preventing them. EJF campaigns internationally on the issues our grassroots partners work locally to solve including cotton production, pirate fishing, shrimp farming, pesticides and wildlife.
